nymph

A mixed bag or reports from the past couple of days with the consensus being that better days are on the horizon. While the conditions have been optimal, as far as what we like to see this time of year, the fishing has been on the slow side but don’t let that keep you away. Every day has the potential of being epic and whether it’s dries or nymphs or streamers you prefer this is the time to be here.

Cool temps into next week with highs in the low 70’s and plenty of sunshine. The streamer crowd has definitely been around these past few days and they’ve been reporting moderate success – mostly with smaller buggers and leeches but that’s not to say you shouldn’t throw the bigger bugs. Tan or olive Circus Peanuts, Coffey’s Sparkle Minnows, Kreelex and polar leeches have all been getting some attention. Throw what you like and what you believe will catch fish. We are of the opinion that if you’re going to fish streamers you need to commit to it, if not for the whole day then at least  for the better part of it.  New to the streamer game? Come by and grab a St Croix Bank Robber demo rod. We’ll get you rigged up and ready – the rest is up to you.

Still plenty of trico action on any given day and plenty of fish being caught on terrestrials and the occasional caddis. Try a Chubby or an October Caddis with a parachute ant or even a double Adams rig and cover some water.
