It looks like it could be a good weekend for BWO’s and/or Streamer fishing. Cooler temps and cloudy skies with that NE breeze hanging around will likely keep the recreational crowds away but there will definitely be plenty of angling traffic out there.
Fishing has been good the last couple of days though the wind has minimized dry fly opportunities. That being said, if you know where to go you can certainly find fish up on most days, regardless of the weather.
By most reports nymphing is strong from Holter to Cascade and the fish can be found in most all types of water. Some are doing well deep nymphing while others are reporting plenty of success with the short rigs.
We ran both yesterday and had the most luck with a medium rig with indicators three feet from the first bug and no weight fishing mostly 3 – 5′ moderately fast water.
Sow Bugs and BWO Magic Flies were the bugs yesterday with the fish taking a break from the LGM’s for once. Wire worms and Peep Shows also got a fair amount of attention.
Full house tomorrow and a couple of rooms available Saturday before things open up on Sunday for a couple of days. Guides available daily and a shop full of things you want and some you need. Open daily at 7 am for all of your Missouri River Fly Fishing needs.
